Venture Wales Launches New Swansea Office as Springboard to the West
29 Jun 2005
Venture Wales, the leading business support organisation in Wales established to provide advice to small and medium sized companies, is to extend its coverage with the opening of a new regional headquarters in Swansea.
The Swansea Enterprise Park office, which will be staffed by a new team of 10 business advisers and mentors, will provide business support to new and growing businesses in the city and the counties of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
As one of the main deliverers of the Welsh Development Agency’s New Business starts programme, one of the backbones of entrepreneurial support in Wales, Venture Wales provides assistance to more than 1,000 businesses and individuals each year.
The Swansea office, at Lion Way, Swansea Enterprise Park, will be officially opened on Friday, July 1, at 12.30pm, by Mr Philip Cooper, Chief Executive, Venture Wales.
He said, “This is an important strategic expansion for venture Wales, which in recent years has established itself as the most successful provider of entrepreneurial support in Wales.
The Swansea office will be an important foothold for us and enable us to manage our new network of business support mentors in the greater Swansea area as well as Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.
“Each of these regions of Wales has particular requirements in terms of business support and the new team we are recruiting to cover this area will be selected for their particular skills and their knowledge of the local business community and the challenges it faces.”
Mr Cooper added, “Swansea in particular is a very exciting city, with a considerable number of talented and ambitious young businesses. Also, schemes such as SA1 and the redevelopment of the city centre provide a vibrant backdrop for it new economy.”
