Beechwood House is sited to the North of Beechwood Park in Newport was built in a commanding, elevated position over looking the 30-acre parkland and Bristol Channel. The grade II listed building was completed in 1880 in the neo-classical style for George Fothergill, a wealthy tobacco manufacturer. EU and WAG grants have been secured towards the cost of a very large programme of works to restore the house, and to create appropriate facilities for operating a substantial enterprise and training centre.
Renovation and remediation works have now commenced, and subject to formal agreement with Newport City Council, Venture Wales intends to attract and house the first tenants to the new facility by late in 2007.
